Day 2 . . . Little Rock to Mobile
We enjoyed a good night’s rest @ the Lorsbachs. The accommodations were wonderful, but I must admit the furry 4 legged visitor in the middle of the night was a bit surprising. I’m sure the cat was also a little put out when neither of us were the usual occupant of the bed.
Early Sunday morning found all of us serving water and Gatorade to the marathoners running through the Lorsbach neighborhood. There were hundreds of runners. Actually it was quite fun and definitely an unusual vacation activity.
We bid farewell to the Lorsbachs. And once we checked the oil, coolant & transmission fluids we were on our way. (side note – you need to make sure your car is running & the engine is warm before you check the transmission fluid – sorry Larry I forgot).
It took us 10 extra minutes to get out of Little Rock. Again – stupid exits! However I must say Rachel is becoming quite the little turnaround expert. She can also maneuver through & cross lanes like a pro. I believe she’ll be ready for the Sept. race @ the Kansas Speedway.
We decided to take the southern route to Florida. We cut through Arkansas, briefly into Louisiana, & entered the south end of Mississippi. Everything is green & beautiful down here. Stayed the night @ Crawford, Alabama.

End of Day 2

  1. You are a brave woman to travel across the country without a map! We both know that's the only way to go! (in circles, missing stupid exits etc.) julie

  3. Thank goodness you've taught Rachel that the world won't come to an end if you turn around! Unlike someone I know who would rather drive LITERALLY 50 miles out of his way than admit he went the wrong way. and Yes, I mean Greg. Have fun in the sun, but don't forget the sunscreen!
